Día De Los Muertos Blog Hop | SDS/Dilo

Eat Dessert First | Journal Page

It's been probably over a year since I came across "art journaling" but only since August that I decided to give it a try...

I have decided to share the few I have created here on my blog in no particular order till I get caught up with the six or seven I have created so far.
This one showcases cupcakes which I don't particularly eat but when I saw this stamp/die set I thought I would use it to journal the fact that at this point in my life I often do eat dessert first and no longer feel a bit of discomfort or guilt at all!, ha!

I used stamps from my comadrita's Dilo En Español.  She currently only sells on her FB page
and for the letters I used stamps from MFT and another set from my collection.

I have been creating one page at a time and then adhering to each other using gel medium a much better choice in my opinion than mod podge.

Boo | Ghostly Graveyard

Today I am sharing a project I created and put together for SVGAttic, Snapdragon Snippet's sister company.  The project utilizes cutting files you can find as of today on the Silhouette Online store, but within days you will be able to purchase on the soon to open SDS store, more on that later!

I had fun putting this set together making it colorful and not too scary (I don't do scary LOL)
Both boxes, the tombstone and the casket can be used to add candy or?  I did add the clear film of the tombstone but forgot to add the candy before I took my pictures and by the time I noticed I was running out of daylight...

Love the vellum that I used for the cute ghosts, it has sparkles in it.  A bit hard to tell in pictures.
I inked the boxes using distress black soot TH ink and a bit of Gesso.

Files used: as a kit at SVGAttic.com Ghostly Graveyard HERE or as individual files on the Silhouette online store.
Tombstone box #21333- Coffin box #21145- 3 Cartoon banners #26671- 3D Ghosts #13604- 3D Bat #12947- Spiderweb and Cupcake Wrapper Iron Fence #33781

List of supplies (aren't those little tags cute?)

Pumpkin Patch Layout

Today I am sharing a layout I created using one of the leaves from a Snapdragon Snippets design available on the Silhouette online store that I converted to a stitch pattern.

Even thou I have previously machine stitch and hand stitch on my layouts, I stitched on this layout inspired by Melinda Spinks and her awesome creations.  I love all her layouts and the way she purposely creates "messy" stitches (for a lack of a better term).

I have previously asked Melinda permission to copy one other layout but have not done so... yet :) (she so kindly and whole heartily said yes)  and might just have to ask her if I may "lift" this one.  I have the perfect photo of my grandson for it.

I used file #21308 and converted the leaf cutting file to a stitch pattern by typing "periods" at font size 20 spaced at 200 and "dropping" it on top of the leaf design.
I stitched using gold metallic thread which it was a bit tedious or time consuming because the "gold/metallic" kept rubbing off the base thread while it was passing through the paper holes and breaking but I really enjoyed it ... I just took my time and stitched a little bit each of 3 days. It was relaxing.  It reminded me of my previous cross stitching hobby and that is a good thing :).

Remember to join us over at SDS for our Anything Fall September contest.
We also have a DT call ending on the 21st.

Thanks for visiting!

September Contest

We are having a joint Fall themed contest over at Snapdragon Snippets and SVGAttic for the month of September.
You may create an enter using a file or more from SDS or SVGAttic

I created this journal page using the Grateful Harvest Leaves card file
I have just ventured myself into mix media journaling.  This is my second page and I must say it is fun to get inky and messy playing with mediums, inks, stamps, markers, stencils...  For the face on the Prima doll I used a Peachy face... I inked the eyes and stamped first and followed by inking the mouth and stamping it second because her face is oval and the stamp is made to fit a more rounded face.

Go see what the rest of the teams have created for inspiration HERE and HERE and for all the rules and prizes.

I have provided the inlinkz link here just in case it is easier for you.

Back To School Blog Hop | SDS SVG Attic

Welcome to the SnapDragon Snippets/SVG Attic Back To School blog hop and to my blog!
We are super excited to have you join us!
Hope you have so far been inspired by the creativity of each of Snapdragon Snippets and SVGAttic design team members.  If you happened across this post out of order, please head to the SVG Attic blog to start at the beginning of the hop.

I created several projects for this hop:

First up I have a Layout I created that provided my daughter and me lots of laughter!  Long story-short, neither of us could locate pictures of my grand daughters' back-to-school from last year that my son in law took... But I needed some pronto! I had already created the Layout!  In desperation, more like my daughter is so fun and entertains my everything-must-match-scrapbooking frenzy, she offered to take "pretend" back to school pictures because my grand daughters do not go back to school until the 25th and I needed them before the 16th!  We laughed so much and thanked her for reading my mind! LOL. We called it a "dry run" haha.
So I decided to keep the journal entry true and write exactly what happened!  Besides I know I will get pictures on the actual day and can later scrapbook those.

I have a second Layout of my super smart grand daughter Jasmine who just happens to love to read. She is starting 6th grade and taking some pre-advanced placement (AP) courses!

Next I have two school buses to give to my grand daughters.

I will be writing the message on the white part before I ship.

Last I am sharing a card I made using the apple which I converted to a shaker and stamped using stamps by Dilo En Español.

Hope my projects have inspired you to create!

Snapdragon Snippets files used:
Back to School Layout:
Teacher Appreciation Box Card #60420 (books, apple, pencil, A+, stars)
She Loves To Read Layout:
Bus Box Card:
Apple Shaker Card:
