Happy Thanksgiving and a Card

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just stopping by to share this card - dress I created to enter the Cricut Circle Weekly Challenge
Weekly Challenge #45: Run for the Border Challenge!
A while back I created a similar dress with punches and hand cutting, but today I challenged myself to create one using my Cricut Expression and my Gypsy
I used Elegant Edges and Ornamental Iron 2 for the background and Forever Young for dress.
Side view
Bottom view
I sized the dress to the height I wanted it and started layering the borders and resizing them.  Once I was happy with the design, I copied and pasted all my cuts on Layer 2 (see picture below)
Here are all my cuts arranged by each of the four quadrants (different color/paper each).  The border that you see next to the dress was intended to be used as a shawl (just one cut by hand) but decided not to use it.
The partial dress you see on top, I placed there (off mat) on purpose to cut the layer using the flower paper and layer on top.
Once I cut everything (well, the E2) I started placing and adhering the borders to the dress layer by layer.  My initial thought was that I would cut the borders, place on mat and have the E2 cut the dress on top... I decided to place myself and once there were where I wanted them, I hand trimmed them from the back. For the bottom of the dress I used a piece of tulle that I folded in half (to have a smooth edge), sew it and adhere to dress.
After cutting the background I ended up with this pretty design that I just don't want it to go to waste! so I will have to use transfer paper and create something else with it!

Happy Thanksgiving again and have a safe Black Friday Shopping!
(I do not dare go out shopping on BF...I do it from the comfort of my computer!)
Hope you can take a break on Friday and stop by. I will be participating in a
12 Days of Christmas Hop! starting on BF!

Thank You Card and Tutorial

Today I have a thank you card and a tutorial to share. The card was created using Fancy Pants Summer's End that you can find over at Happy N Scrappin'

Here is the card and the envelope

This is how I created the flower:

1-Cut four (4) 2" scalloped circles. (you can make them larger or smaller and do not have to use a punch, you can use an electronic cutting machine).
2- Fold in half  ( I don't know if you noticed, but I utilized the cover of the paper pad...call it thrifty, frugal, I call it utilizing all the beautiful paper!).
3- Fold in quarters. (repeat with all four).
4- Cut 1" circle from scraps or designer paper. (again if you do not have a punch you can use your electronic cutting machine).
5- Add adhesive to circle and adhere the scalloped circles folded in quarters like so.
6- Here is the "flower"
7- Ink with distress ink if desired.
8-For the center I created a button using my Imaginisce I-top (you can use a different brad or button, or?)
9-For the leaves, I cut 1 1/2" x 1 1/2 squares (if you prefer, you can make them smaller or larger by increasing or decreasing the size of your square of paper)
--  and followed this wonderful step by step tutorial
I finished up my card by adding machine stitching with brown thread (I also forgot to mention that I punched a hole in the middle of the flower to insert the brad.
