Christmas Journal - 12 Days of Christmas - Day 9

Christmas projects for 12 Days and today is Day 9

For today's project I created the cover for an album were I will journal my Christmas Season.
I am excited to document the Christmas season for the first time since I am new to scrap-booking.

There are several methods that I have come across on how to approach this project.  There is the December Daily by Ali Edwards and the Journal Your Christmas by Shimell.  I will be attempting a combination.  December Daily is an album that documents the 25 first days in December and the Journal Your Christmas, I believe starts on Dec 1 and ends January 6th (many European countries as well as most Hispanic countries celebrate January 6 even more than December 25).  I will start mine on Black Friday and attempt to go all the way to January 6 since my parents did celebrate "Dia De Reyes" with us as kids and my daughter and only child was born on that day!  I will be hosting a hop that day with lots of giveaways!

Additionally, many approach this project by creating in advance their pages..... I am not ready for that so I will be creating a few at a time.  And why am I starting on Black Friday?, well my daughter went BF shopping for the first time and kept in communication with me the entire time and all I can say is that I laughed my heart out!!  (will be sharing later her three legged wheeled cart adventure!)

This is my cover page -  I will be mostly using PP from the BG Jovial collection and scraps in the black, red, green and off-white color scheme.
Here is a closer look at the cuts/designs I purchased from the Silhouette online store. Love the numbers with the tiny (minute) black edge.

Here is a look at my cover page inside the album's protective sheet. I purchased this album/folder at Staples.  There are many album styles, sizes and materials utilized by many people.  I was going to purchase an expensive kit, thought about it, and when I was ready, it had sold out, so I got creative and started building my own for a lot less.  I just like it because it is green and black and it will do just fine!

I additionally started building the inside cover page.  I purchased this file from Kerri Bradford Studio.
The design had the words HO HO HO but I took away and replaced with "Jesus is the Reason" -- I will add for "the season" inside.  You can see a picture of my daughter shopping (oh so grateful for smart phones!).  I was not able to create that page because I printed the pictures too large (I need wallet sized or 3x5 if I want to use more than one in a page layout). My album is 5 1/2" by 8 1/2".

Within minutes of knowing I would be creating something with a Christmas song,
the song "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" came to mind!
Immediately after I thought about a picture of me from 1990 when I was vacationing in the Island of Majorca, Spain.  I had a camera that had a remote control, but we were too far for the camera to respond to the remote control, so I set up to go to the camera press the "timer" button and why did I think I had to run back?!!!
I thought that it would be fun to show my grand daughters a picture with a "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" title on a scrapbook layout, but this happened in July's hot summer! not Christmas time.  I opted out of a layout and instead created this card.  (Having problems with blogger all night -- was not able to upload picture of me hitting the floor and with my tush up in the air!)

Is he not the cutest? ...like saying "what?, me?" ---
I also just love the background scene (I think I might use this on a layout)
The card is a large 5.5" x 4.25"
All cuts except the snow are from the Silhouette online store. The snow is a PTI die.

Here is a copy of the song lyrics.

You can see behind that I am working on the second advent calendar.  I was not able to finish.  Enough boxes were finished so that my niece can start opening boxes tomorrow.  My sister is helping me so we can finish it tomorrow.   Actually I am just cutting and my sister is putting boxes/drawers together and embellishing them to her taste.
Supplies used that you can find over at Happy N Scrappin'
Doodlebug Classic PP for antlers and ears

Advent Calendar - 12 Days of Christmas - Day 6

Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas Hop

Christmas projects for 12 Days and today is Day 6

Hopefully you just arrived from Patricia's Creative Diva's Blog

For today's project I created an advent calendar.

Silhouette America has (or had) this limited edition advent calendars and I just had to purchase one....
OK two!!  one to send to my gran babies and the other to stay at my house.  My 9 year old niece lives with me, so my sisters and I will be tackling this task tomorrow!  It is time consuming to decide what papers to use (you need 25 sheets of cardstock or heavy PP) , than cut, put boxes/drawers together, ink, embellish...

First I thought I would send the boxes flat  and let my daughter put them together herself, but decided to put them together here, embellish and send on a box.

When you purchase the advent calendar it come with a card to download both, the boxes and drawers. You have a choice on what to create.  I chose to make 3 boxes (11, 13, 19) and 22 drawers.  I cut the numbers with my Cameo too.  For the 25, I chose to cut a Santa belt instead of using a number.
Closer look at the drawers/boxes on top
Closer look at the bottom drawer/boxes
Closer look at the Santa belt.

All PP is from My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter glitter Christmas papers stack, black is Paper Co., DCWV for golden buckle.  Inked with walnut stain from Tim Holtz and added black and red twine.

I almost forgot to mention that I first cut all the number and lay them on a craft sheet and sprayed them with Glimmer Mist.

I was running out of time because I have to ship this (overnight), but even though the paper is all glittery and I added Glimmer Mist to the numbers, I think I am missing some bling!!

An Ornament - 12 Days of Crhistmas - Day 5

Christmas projects for 12 Days and today is Day 5

Today I am sharing a previously created ornament.
(see disclosure - "we will be sharing newly and previously created Christmas projects").

I created these ornaments last year around this time using my Gypsy, Gypsy Wandering, the cartridges "George and Basic Shapes" and "Independence Day"   See Post HERE for tutorial.

It really warmed my heart to receive two-three requests for my file very recently  (If I did not send it to you yet due to my Gypsy being replaced, let me know and I will send [I think I sent it to everybody that requested it already] it your way!).

--- if you have the recently released Art Philosophy cart, there is a flower in there that is very similar (I do not own this cartridge, but have seen people create "flowers" that are just so similar!)

A Card - 12 Days of Christmas - Day 4

Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas Hop

Christmas projects for 12 Days and today is Day4
Hope you can join us in the fun!

Hopefully you just arrived from Patricia's Creative Diva's Blog

Today I created a very simple card using one of the newest dies/embossing combos from Sizzix
and have a little tutorial on how I created or how to make a card out of a die.
I did not embellish a lot... my intent is to show the "how to create a card from a die".
Please excuse such dark pictures... I thought I had fixed with Picasa but now I can see it did not take...

1-Fold piece of cardstock intended to be your card in half and place on die at a level high enough on the design/shape.  A place where it will create a substantial fold.  (click on pictures to see larger detail).
 2-Run through die cutting machine
\
3-This is what your "card" looks like.
4- Die cut a single shape and embossed with matching embossing envelope. (picture not shown)
5- Adhere cut and embossed shape aligning it on top of  the previously created shape card.
I stamped a sentiment inside and inked the entire bird (and a bit inside the card) with distress ink.
And added a little tag tied around with olive green hemp.

Supplies:
Sizzix Bigz Die with Bonus Textured Impression - Bird #2
Tim Holtz antique linen and crushed olive distress ink
adhesive pearl, hemp and mini tag (TH Sizzix die)

 Today I created a tag-

Supplies:
PTI dies and stamp, PP K&Co., SU ink, TH distress inks, hemp, bell, ribbon and SnowWriter by DecoArt
The bell is 6mm (very tiny bell) silver that I painted with acrylic paints to give it the rusted look (it was a bit tedious to do so, I am ordering some online! -I was trying not to order online, but I have looked at all my local craft stores to no avail).
