Goodwill Blog Hop

Welcome to GabyCreates
and to the first Goodwill “the power of work” Blog Hop!
What this blog hop is all about.
The first week of May is “the power of work” week for Goodwill.

I hope you landed here from Visiting my friend Dalis.  She is the HOST!
Goodwill has helped thousands of families and gave them the choice to a new beginning.
To learn more about Goodwill and their efforts to help your community go HERE.

I visited my local Goodwill just a few days ago for some inspiration to create my project for today, but just could not find what I had in mind (a small Goodwill). I was thinking on finding a Scrabble game to use the tiles on a scrapbook.  What I found instead is this Totally ME! Funky Fashion Tracing Desk.
The box was a bit broken.  I paid $4.99
I had to replace the batteries and clean the battery housing (previous batteries had bled).
I almost thought that it was not going to work, but with a little tweaking, it did.
I colored her with Prismacolor pencils.  I made the mistake of tracing her with a Prismacolor blue instead of a sharpie or a pen that could handle the alcohol based Copic markers.  Additionally she is too big at 7" tall for a card.  I will have to leave it for my grand daughter to play with! I know she will have lots of fun!

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!  Make sure you follow all the rules at  Stampergirl.com to win her giveaways! Here just leave me a comment for a chance at a set of Stamps.

Next Stop is Maria Elena from Maria Elena's Happy World!

Layout Making Faces For Grandma - My Mind's Eye Lush II Navy

It is Sketch Saturday Challenge time
over at Simply Scrapping Crafts

I created a very simple layout of my Lauren making faces for me!
She is such a funny baby! She is always making all kinds of cute faces!

I had been looking for a long time for a blue polka dot paper and finally MME came out with a collection!
For the title, I used WordArt printed the mirror image on a transparency and used as a rub-on!
This is the sketch I used and the one you can use to play with for a chance at a great AC package!
Head on over to Sketchy Saturday at http://www.simplyscrapping.ning.com/ so you can enter!

Cinco De Mayo Layout - WeRMemory Keepers Fiesta Collection

Welcome to GabyCreates
and to the
Cinco de Mayo Blog Hop
hosted by my BFF Abby

If you just happened to be visiting and wish to participate, start with Abby, but if you just arrived from Sweet Talented Erika you are in the right place.

Cinco De Mayo (May 5th) is not México's Independence Day as many think (it is actually September 16th, but the celebrations start on the evening of the 15th waiting for the President to give El Grito).  I won't bore you with more history since you probably alreary read a bit more information on the subject at Abby's.

For today's celebration, I begged for this file!!!  (actually Yolie requested it from Melin, Melin created it and I just had to have it! -- I would have begged! lol)

When I first saw the file I could not belive how great the girl bear would go with pictures I had of my grand daughter dressesed almost just like that! to celebrate FIESTA day/week at her school. (I will use the boy on another project, I am sure! love the maracas, the boots and the hat!).

Warning: Picture Heavy!
I was so super excited two years ago when my daughter sent me these pictures!
My grand daughter is 50% Spanish/Mexican, 25% Irish and 25% African American
One day she asked me what she was (You can only imagine the comments she gets, but will spare you the details)-- I told her she was my Mexican Baby!!
so when I saw these pictures I thought she looks GORGEOUS!!
(watch out!, grandma speaking!)
and I was so PROUD!!
Closer look at the Papel Picado

Tied box using Red, Green and Red/White ribbon/twine
Added a button and a wooden pencil
Tied Red/White twine around box
Added a button and a wooden bus in the middle
Cricut Cuts:
Wrap It Up: Apple card at 2.75" and its layers
Preserves: Apple layer [white] (hand cut at the bite's edge)

My 8 year old niece is so happy that she is taking her teacher a gift.
The box contains pencils, Skittles, Hershey's kisses, candles and
a bottle cover/top (or a convert your can into a bottle thingy)
and card game...
Update: Teacher loved it! -- Teacher does not speak Spanish and my niece speaks very little (I know, we have to fix that with my sister!)-- My niece told teacher that her "Tia" (aunt) made it... teacher replied...tell your Tia, muchas gracias!!  LOVE IT!

Mother's Day Celebration - Paper Crafting World

Today is the start of another
PCW Cutting File Challenge
and the theme is Mother's Day

My Mom Loved Chocolates and Elephants~
I did not take a good picture were you can see that I added Glossy Accents on the bear's eyes
and used a Sakura pink/red glitter pen on some of the chocolates to give them that chocolate with
filling look.
This is a LO I had previously posted using one of Melin's cutting files that you can find HERE
We hope you get to play with us at PaperCraftingWorld (CookingWithCricut sister blog)
But first go visit to see what beautiful creations the rest of the Design Team created!

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.

And hopefully you can come back and visit on Thursday, Cinco de Mayo, for another creation using
Melin's beautiful files!

And for Cricut inspiration CWC is having a month long Blogoversary Celebration with postings and free files/prizes everyday in May!!
